"One of the series of Lady and Unicorn tapestries from Cluny representing the senses. The sense of smell is indicated by the lady weaving a wreath of fragrant flowers, and by a monkey which is sniffing a flower it has taken from the basket next to it. A maidservant stands next to the lady holding a tray of additional flowers. The lady is dressed in an elaborate brocade gown with jewels. On each side, a prancing unicorn and lion hold lances carrying banners and are also wearing shields with the same heraldic design. The millefleur background includes many kinds of flowers, and various birds and animals animals including rabbits, dogs, and a lamb. The trees are an oak, holly, orange, and possibly an imaginary species. (This pattern is solidly stitched.)"
