Trammed canvases look as though they are painted with wool. The pattern is stitched with horizontal stitches which you then stitch over with half cross stitch in the same colour wool. The horizontal stitches give a guide to the shape and colour of the design. Many more colours give an end result, which is much more detailed and more hard wearing than a printed canvas. Fine details like faces and hands are stitched in petit point. Tramme canvases always come with the wool to stitch the pattern.  Jolles Collection Trammed tapestries incl. yarn (100% wool).
