Tramme needlepoint kits predate today's handpainted canvases. They always include the wool (100% wool) to stitch the pattern.  Horizontal stitches are already on the canvas acting as a guide to the shape and colour of the design. The stitcher stitches over with half cross stitch in the same color wool resulting in a much more detailed and intricate canvas. Fine details like faces and hands and done in petit point may be partially pre-stitched.  Jolles Collection. Made In China.
